"For me, photography is a way to communicate what lies beneath the surface. My passion is photographing people - trying to capture in a 2-dimensional image some aspects of the person's inner beauty"
I was born in England. My father and other relatives worked for Kodak, and I became fascinated with photography at an early age after receiving my first “Kodak Brownie” camera as a birthday gift. I remember vividly working with my late father in the staff darkrooms at Kodak, making images appear, as if by magic, from paper and chemicals.
After adventures with all types of film cameras, from an early Pentax, through Hassleblad and Rollei medium format, to Contax 35mm, I now shoot exclusively in digital format. Although my choice of subjects is eclectic, my true passion lies with photographing people (and especially women). The challenges of capturing, in a split second, some deep essence of an individual or couple are great, but I find such work rewarding.
I moved to Canada in 1985, and set up a winter home in Baja with my wife, Diane Knight, in 1996. In 2008, I reduced my involvement with my work in management consulting, to devote more time to my passion for photography. I now split my time between the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island and Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.
If you feel an affinity for my style, and maybe have a significant milestone coming up that you would like me to work with you to capture the feeling of that event, please send me an e-mail through my "contact" page, or phone me at (250) 890-0406 (Canada), or (612) 145-0586 (Mexico), and we'll discuss how best to make it happen. My local base is the Vancouver Island area of British Columbia, Canada in the summer, and Todos Santos / Los Cabos / East Cape in Baja California Sur, Mexico in the winter. I am, however, happy to travel to sessions outside these locations
If you like my work, but don't need your own photography session now, perhaps you could be interested in one of my Art Prints? Just contact me through the above coordinates and I'll be happy to help you!
I do hope you'll enjoy the sample photos on this site!
